Hi Reodor,
I guess that this is your photo.
Having a closer look at your documents I noticed that the step penetration in the newels is set to 0 and therefore the step positions are not marked on the newels and the extra length are not marked on the steps.
Sorry for this it’s probably my mistake but full review of your project is not really included in the StairFile Lite service.
I’ve re-processed the workshop documents with the steps recessed 15mm into the newels .
All the best,
Ness

Hi Reodor,
The DXF files of the posts are named Newel1f1.dxf, Newel2f2.dxf,…..etc.
f number is the face of the newel or post.
They are also of course marked out the general DXF drawings reodor01v02-2d.dxf.
In the workshop document they are marked out on pages 20 to 23.
In general it’s easy to mark them out using only the workshop documents.
All the best,
Ness

Hi Reodor,
Happy to hear your project is moving forwards.
In the dxf plans you should have the drawing of each face of the newel posts (columns).
You can either print out a template and glue it to the face or add dimensions to the notches and mark them from the dimensions.
You can then use the router guide to rout them.
All the best,
Ness

Hello Reodor,
I’m not sure what you mean by rounding the edge. Do you mean the shape of the step or the profile of the nosing?
Can you send me a drawing, sketch or photo?
All the best,

Hello Reodor,
Your step housings around post will have to be slightly adjusted.
In the attached drawing I’ve drawn in red the adjustment you have to make around the newel post.
I noticed that the depth of step housing into the post may not have been added to your drawings. Please check this and add if necessary.
Cutting out the housing can be done using the routing jig that you’ll find the router jig explained in this ebook in the Wood Designer ebook library:

I usually find belt sanders the best tool for sanding a stair.
For a really good finish I, rough sand with 80 grit belt and then sand fine with 120 grit orbital sander.
All the best,
Ness
