Hello Kevin,
Here is a general plan of a curved stair that should work within your constraints.
The objectives of the design are:
– Get the stair close to the design of the photo you posted
– Try to keeping the start as open as possible to the front door, that is not turning it’s back on the entrance
– Keep the stair within the 3mx3m open stair well.
The first step is closer than 1m80 to the outer wall but the stair will not be facing away from the front door.
I can turn the stair faster and move the first step away from the front door, like your architects drawing but this will put the stair more or less back to the front door and the living room.
With the design you have chosen, in my opinion, the whole stair should be curved. Adding newels will break the movement and flow of the stair. Of course this means that the stair will be more expensive, so it might depend on your budget.
As with everything it’s always a question of compromise.
If this plan is OK with you we can move forwards and draw the details.
Have a look at the project and I’ll call you so that we can discuss how we move forwards.
All the best,
Ness
Thank you
This seems to work
I would like the stairs to start 600m in from the right hand side of the gallery
and would like the stairs as much like the picture I attached last as possible with the “Grand Piano” bottom shaped step and with the newel post being set behind (as per the picture)
and with the right hand side of the 2nd to bottom step kicking out (like the picture)
basically I would like my stairs to as much like the picture as possible
how quickly can this be done ?
Best Regards
Kevin
