Hello Everyone,
Sorry for this late reply to this thread.
I’ve been away giving some software training to the Compagnons de Devoir in Angers so not too far from Poitiers.
Unfortunately I had no internet connexion and haven’t been able to connect to the forum.
So a big thanks to Mark for his help.
Your project seems set up nicely now, are you still having problems with the edging?

Perfect! It seems to me that a lot of things can be solved with the parameters of Links. I need to play with that a little bit…

You will need to click each individual door and look at the way it interacts with the Frontage on the bottom right links.
In particular, look at the angles….

Hi Michal
For the side panel. Select it and then look at its definition with the back… I have overlapped it by 155mm.
This will reduce the total depth by 155mm, so you need to make the cabinet depth 595mm.

Your solution for the right side by Increasing the depth of the cabinet by 155mm (the value of the recess of the wall) is exactly what I wanted! But when I do it, the whole cabinet becomes deeper (not just the side panel) what seems to me completely normal. What’s the way to do it your way?
The door slack is ok too now. Anyway I don’t want that kind of bevel (we could even say a knife’s edge), it’s due to the form of the cabinet. I just want a simple cut as seen in the sketch.
I’ll wait for Ness’s post concerning my edging problem. Unless someone has an idea…

Hi Michal
I have changed the doors and side panel on the right cabinet for you.
To see what I did, open the cabinet and look at the details of each door. I have changed the slack to -1mm to close the gap.
On the side panel I have increased the depth of the whole cabinet by 155mm, the depth of the wall return and then extended the right panel by the 155mm which should be correct if I read your problem correctly.
Ness may be able to sort the edgeing problem as I didnt have time.

Hello everybody,
I’m Michal, living in France. I’m a carpenter and I recently moved to Poitiers (on a half way from Paris to Bordeaux). In Paris I’ve been a craftsman for 7 years, mostly cabinetery and some stairs too. I got in touch with Ness then for a Stairfile service in 2009 or something like that. The client was satisfied and since then I follow Ness’s work from time to time. Then we met in Expobois Paris at the end of 2014.
First of all, congratulations, Ness, Stefan and all the participants, for the creation of this space of exchange.
Now my project: I’m going to build a cabinet for a client. My workshop is not set yet completely, so I will have to outsource a big part of the job. Polyboard will be of a great help for me I believe. I first draw a sketch (attached .skp file) for a client to approve the design. This phase is ok. After watching the maximum of tutorials and trying to draw, I have something like this (attached projet baubau.pb). The worktops and other wooden parts don’t appear in the polyboard project, I ordered wooden panels and I’ll process them manually (cutting with my festool plunge saw and assembling with domino or modular). I’ve contacted a local cnc company. They are running a Weeke 4 axis machine and can do the cutting, drillings, even the edging of all panels. Everything is in poplar plywood (22,18,15 and 10mm), painted or varnished according to my client’s wishes
So now I have to draw precisely the cabinet and get a .dxf file for cnc routing. I have several questions:
1. I still have some problems applying the method (or sub-method) in a correct way to my cabinets. For example, edging is dissapearing whed I open the model in the project mode… but only in some cabinets…
2. The lower right cabinet has a special form. I can’t fit the doors. Why?
3. In the same cabinet I would like the right side (upright) going until the wall. How to do it?
Well, that could be enough for the moment, it’s quite late.
