Thanks Michel
I’ve decided to go with the central cutstringer, horizontal laminate technique. I watched the video on how to draw the laminates in ProgeCAD. It starts with exporting a 2D DXF from StairDesigner. What’s the best way of creating the central cutstringer in StairDesigner, please?

Hi Stu,
I saw your drawings and both types of stairs are possible ( central cutstringer or lateral cutstringers).
both can be created with the horizontal laminate technique and we have some videos on the website showing the build. So it is a matter of taste.
With the central custringer you need a firm and strong connection on base and top to have good support for the complete stair. With the lateral custringer you have a possibility of a connection point on the wall side (mid stair) to add support for the stair, but is also possible without wall connection but here then also a good floor and top connection is needed.
regards
Michel

Hi Stuart, thanks for posting. I’ve actually moved your message to the stair building forum, so one of our technical team can take a look. All the best…

Hi
I’m Stu. I’m buying the shell of a house to fit out myself, and I’m going to need a stair! Also going to need a fitted kitchen, two bathrooms, shelving for two walk-in wardrobes…
So, I’ve had a play with StairDesigner, which I have to say seems pretty impressive! At this stage I’d appreciate a discussion about whether the things I’m designing would stand up. The Architect’s plan calls for a stair that isn’t attached to the walls.
I’d also like to talk about construction methods and materials. I was initially drawn to your technique for the single stringer stair, but now I’m not so sure.
I have some links to images:
