Thats worked fine. Had to play around with the dimensions a bit to get it under 50 kb, but got there in the end.
Will try and upload a photo now.

Hi, the file size needs to be under 50 kb (51200 bytes) [EDIT, we’ve now raised the limit to 100 kb or 102400 bytes] , and the pixel width and height no more than 400 pixels.
I found this article (EDIT: link removed as article no longer available) that explains how to reduce the file size/dimensions in Mac’s Preview tool. Set the resolution to 72 dpi as well. Do the right click ‘get info’ again and see if it’s gone down to under 50 kb [EDIT, 100 kb].

The only way that I know of seeing a file size is to right click and get info.
This give me in megabytes 2.5 megabytes info etc.
I still don’t know what this means really…….clearly i understand that its too big file
but the information underneath……..god knows what that means.
How do I sort this out!!! sorry but I’m not great with computers……im trying though!

Thanks for reply. Forgive me if i missing something, but doing what you said only gives me
techy stuff about file size etc. Not everyone is going to be able to understand this etc. Nor will they probably be bothered to try
I can right click my photo to ‘get info’ etc but I still have no idea whether my file size
is too big as I simply don’t understand the drop down menu etc about files sizes.
Image upload constraints: Size (bytes): 51200 Width (pixels): 400 Height (pixels): 400
Image allowed types: jpg, jpeg, gif, png
Media upload constraints: Size (bytes): 51200 Width (pixels): 320 Height (pixels): 240
Media allowed types: swf, dcr, mov, qt, mpg, mp3, mp4, mpeg, avi, wmv, wm, asf, asx, wmx, wvx, rm, ra, ram
File upload constraints: Size (bytes): 51200
File allowed types: txt, rtf, doc, pdf, pb-cab, pb-proj, sds
As I said……..it would be good to have a foolproof sticky( for non techy types) about uploading photos
and will save lots of people having to go through this.

Hi Terry, below the box where you write the content for a forum post, there’s a button called ‘Upload Attachments’. If you click on this, you’ll see the size limits.
I use a PC, but I think that Apple’s Preview application should do the trick. Thanks
