Hello Alex,
thanks a lot for your hints and also the questions about the drawers. Especially the “nil panel” changed a lot.
What I changed in the project:
- The center shelve board is shifted to a plausible position.
- the feet of my side peaces are now placed correctly
- I used your suggestion to use (slightly) thinner 16mm boards for the drawer frames and decided to use it for the horizontal boards, too. The frame will still be 19mm beech glued wood.
- I changed the design to have slimmer 6mm multiplex bottoms, set in grooves. Probably still very sturdy for the expected load.
- Originally I intended the drawers to have very rustic grooves and strips. But after your question I now increased the play of the drawer to 12.7mm on each side to make room for a Hettich KA 4532 Silent system.
- The central box is now shown in the correct orientation. I also increased the width to gain ~20mm on each side of the bed in order to avoid noises from movement of either part.
The top boards are intended to just lie on top (the front overlap will be on the bed frame). Hence the reduced width.
I may add some wooden strips inside the box to provide a bigger area to lie on, if needed. I may also open up the inner side of the base cabinets to connect the dead space with the central box.
I believe, that the plan is good to go.
Do you spot any problems or shall we continue to create the cutting list?
Best regards
Gernot

Hi,
– For your drawers, which hardware do you want using? in case of Blum / Tandem or Hettich / Quadro 16mm panels is recommended
– Counter-frontage can, be set to nil panel
– To change panel overpassing another select link then change to overpassing or underpassing
As for the rest, I’m not sure I understand. Do you have an draft of what you want to achieve to help you further?
Cheers, Alex

Hello,
I got close to what I want to achieve with my bedside cabinet project. Although I had to “cheat” in some places:
The center piece is meant to be upright, with the lid overlapping to the front. => Cutting list should be identical
The feet of the side pieces are meant to be on the bottom. => Just changes the assembly, not the cutting list
The center top board is meant to go between the “tower” cabinets, but the size is correct
The drawers of the bottom side pieces need attention:
I want the top plate to overlap and was only to achieve this with a double front plate of the drawers. I’d prefer to have the drawers constructed with a single front plate. Can you help?
Once that’s fixed, im happy to get the cutting list.
Best regards
Gernot
