Hi Mike,
I’ve tweaked you stair a bit.
Added a landing step, made the stringer straight and wider to accommodate the winders, etc.
Your steps are very thick at 2 1/2, thicker than your stringers, are you sure this is correct?
The risers are also resting on the steps, you might consider passing them behind the steps.
If the this is OK with you, I can send the working documents.
All the best,
Ness
hi Ness Thanks for that I think I have everything ready for you this is the first one I’ve done lots to learn yet. good with the wood not so much with the computer. I have the post set at 110″ and at this time there is no railing the customer is going to do his own welded art thing. I like the second option you presented with the 1″ spacing into the steps best. if you need anything else let me know.

Hi Mike,
Here are a couple of variations on your stair with a 9″x9″ post.
I’m supposing that the big post is sitting on the floor and extending up above the first floor.
I’m guessing that you want to assemble the upper balustrade into the big post.
The strings are recessed into the post, but it would be simpler to use false tenons or big dowels and bolts.

The model mike01v01 positions the strings in the middle of the post:
This reduces some what the width of the steps around the turning.
You might find it better to off set the strings as in the version mike01v02
You can control the height of the post with the “top height from ground parameter”:
You can tweak this project to your needs, post the final draft and I’ll process it to sent you back the working documents.
All the best,
Ness
