Request to have better input of references |Forum|WOOD DESIGNER
November 8, 2013
Hi, sorry for the delay here.
The OptiNest references are centred on a point which, in most situations, is the centre of gravity of the part and works well.
However there might be some exceptions, for instance in the case of parts including holes, of strongly asymmetrical shapes, etc.
As stage 1 of looking at this issue and identifying a solution, can you post the OptiNest file where you have the issue.
Can you also tell us as precisely as possible how you produced this result, where all references seem to start in the middle of the part (as opposed to the logic within the software which is based on centred text printouts).
Please also post all intermediate files, as well as the names of all software (other than Polyboard and OptiNest) used in the process.
Thanks very much
Hello,
We are now using Polyboard and Optinest for almost all of our projects and it is speeding up our workflow. Although we now seem to be spending an unreasonable amount of time editing our exports from this …..
into something that is actually usable like this
Our old nesting software would scale the text to keep it within the size of the perimeter of the piece. Examples below – This was nested using MyNesting and always worked well no matters the different in panel size
This would save us hours a week and is a very frustrating task and feels like the current feature doesnt work. Is there a better way around the current process – we have looked as using labels but we often cut many very similar looking panels so having a “map” of where each part is nested is still vital. We currently print out a copy of the nest – cut it up and stick it on to each panel.
