Thats very generous Jim…..and thank you. I will do some research tomorrow see if I can hook it up to my Macbook….im not that tech savvy but my Gf is pretty clued up. Perhaps we can exchange contact details anyway as Ive been meaning to contact you about dropping by your neck of the woods to have a look at the domino…..at a time that would suit you.

I would love a double screen setup…..this however may cause some friction with my GF with regards to funds!! Thanks for the advice and I might have some get some more advice on this when I get through my next 3 jobs. Thats if I haven’t spent the money on the festool domino!! hahah

I think the two main set up options are where both screens mirror each other – good for a presentation if you want to see what your audience sees – but I think you’d want to set them up to effectively extend your display across the two screens.

Thanks Stefan…….yes i think I will need to look at this properly. Starting to spend longer periods designing now so its important to get it right and be comfortable…….the design process is just as important as the work. There are alot of things on the constant ever growing to do list however so i may have to put it on the backburner. Sadly this tv quite old and will not accept a connection from my laptop..at least I don’t think it will. Im not entirely sure how that would work anyway as I’d assume the tv would just mirror what appears on the laptop screen. I suppose you would have a bigger screen so yes thats a possibility. As you mentioned, all our new videos are going on to Wood Designer rather than YouTube now so this isn’t really an option any more.
Have you considered a dual screen set up? Two monitors next to each other for desktop or a second monitor attached to your laptop? You might even be able to use the TV as a second screen attached directly to your laptop.
Many design professionals set up with dual monitors and never look back. The costs have come right down and going double can really speed up your workflow as you’ve already found out.

A big part of using polyboard for me is being able to watch the videos as you are on you computer designing. For me……I can never remember how to do anything……In fact I couldn’t even remember how to add a plinth yesterday as I probably hadn’t done that for a few days etc. So what I do is just accept the fact that my memory isn’t very good and just refer to Ness’ videos. The addition of the sitemap was very useful (thank you stefan) and now speeds up my process of finding the video that I need for a given project.
So up until a month or two ago I had the setup in the picture below. I have an old tv with a cheap roku box in the corner of my workshop that could stream Ness’ videos off of yoiutube (I’ve subscribed to his page) the beauty of this is you could have you laptop fully open and have polyboard full screen whilst you could watch the video on the tv above……easy remote control to pause etc and then continue.
The downside is it seems that none of the really useful up to date videos are available on youtube. Its a real pain having to resize the screen on a 12′ laptop…………Stefan is there any other way of getting all the videos on the big screen whilst I design??
