The only problem is the sliding shelf pulls.
To keep the clean design, I would put a “push to open” latch to the back of the shelf so that a push on the front will release the spring and push the shelf out. Pushing the shelf back in will click the ratchet and the shelf will then stay in place.
You might also consider using a push to open drawer sliders that would then also replace the dowel stops.
To finalise the design we also need to do now is to set up the correct materials.
You have designed using Quick Design materials and for some reason you are using the French version of the libraries.
Can you post the real thicknesses of the different panels you’ll be using?

thanks for the input.
1. I tried to open jackt01v01.pb-cab but go the error message “unexpected file format”.– attached.
2. OK. we will make the drawers slide against sides and vertical divisions……the 2mm would be 3/32″ for me.
3. with adding the brackets, I was trying to add a base.
4. The unglued divides/partitions were a thought to be used if I wanted the capability to expand the usable space…….not that big a deal.
5. On the picture of your version, it looks like I need to add some frontage to drawers 2, 4, 5, 6, to smooth/level the appearance?

To answer your questions:
1. I plan to build this cabinet in oak or maple. :
You are actually using Quick Design materials you’ll have to set these to the real thickness of your boards .
2. I have put the mobile shelves 1,2,3 to be pullouts & don’t know if this is the correct method. I wanted guidance to put stops in to limit the forward motion and notch a handle underneath.
How do you want to make the stops? on way would be to glue a dowel to the edge that slides in a groove. this can be set up as hardware in Polyboard. Can you post a drawing of how you were thinking of setting this up?
3. I usually build my drawers with built-in wood runners but in this design I extended the sides to act as runner slides. I would like your suggestions and I am open to your ideas.
In your design you can just make the drawers slide on the bottom shelves and against the sides and vertical divisions. In this case set the lateral slack or the drawer inners to 2mm
4. I wanted to build-in front and side bracket braces with screw blocks and corner blocks but could not find a method to accomplish.
I’m not sure what you mean here, if built properly this cabinet shouldn’t need brackets nor screwed blocks. ut maybe I don’t understand exactly what you have in mind.
5. Mobile 4 is intended to be removable if desired.
Do you mean the sliding shelves ?
6. Vertical divides are to be unglued groove partitions that can be removed.
To be removable the grooves have to be extended to the front, which in general is not considered very esthetique. Why do you want the verticals to be mobile?
7. I wanted to chamfer the outside edges, route some design into the drawer faces, etc but did not see the option.
You can’t chamfer edges in Polyboard . It’s possible to add this for presentation purposes by exporting the DXF into another CAD program. For manufacturing with CN it requires adding a line or extra tol path. If building by hand this is not really important. To route designs you must first draw the design in CAD and import the DXF file as an inner tooling.
8. Needed to know how to show piano hinges on the bottom of the drawers.
You can set up a specific hardware groove or inner tooling for hinges that can then be applied to the doors.
This is only useful if using CNC
9. You mentioned I could optionally add a 3D model of the actual hardware for display purposes. Please let me know to do this.
to add the hardware representation you must first have the 3D DXF files of the hardware. These must be exclusively 3D face entities. then go to Libraries>Accessories and import the DXF into the Accessories library.
Now when you set up hardware you can choose Accessory in the Type and import the file that will be applied with all the other tooling patterns.
This is a very new and powerful feature and I’ll be exploring it more in depth in future videos and tutorials.
I attach your model that I’ve modified a bit.
I’ve changed the drawers and made the carcass using stopped grooves.
I’ve also set the back into a groove.

We allow fairly big images, but out of a camera photos are too big and would slow down the site. Often if you find a pic on the web and use that to show what you mean, it will already have been resized and won’t be a problem.

Hi Jack,
I don’t understand some of your questions, could I suggest that you post drawings, sketches or photos when possible?
In all cases please post you Polyboard files, this often quickly makes explanations clearer.
A picture is worth a thousand words…
1 & 2 – I’m not sure what you mean by stops and door grooves can you post a drawing, photo or sketch?
3- piano and hinges can be set up in hardware as grooves or inner tooling (pockets)
4- not sure what you mean as base as plinth? can you post a drawing?
5- in general hardware only displays the machining. In the latest release 6.03c you can optionally add a 3D model of the actual hardware. This makes the files much bigger so I strongly recommend you only add the 3D hardware when necessary for presentation purposes.
Can you post your Polyboard project so that I can look at it.

Hi Hess:
I am finishing-up my first cabinet design and need some guidance.
1. Wanted some pull-outs and put them in as “mobile shelves”. Haven’t figured out how to put the stops in.
2. Included 3 pull-down doors but need direction to machine the inside grooves to finish-off the fit.
3. Are there any piano and side hinges in fasteners in the software for the doors ?
4. I tried to add a base using plinths but that option appeared unavailable In Demo?
5. Am I correct that hardware only displays the machining, not actual hardware?
